Trust Over Transactions: The New Blueprint for Builder Success
Overview
In today’s market, it’s tempting to chase quick wins—hiring the cheapest candidate, switching vendors to save a few dollars, or selling to any buyer who comes along. But those short-term fixes often cause long-term damage. The builders who will thrive are those who invest in relationships—with employees, trades, buyers, and communities—that build resilience and profitability.
About the Workshop
This interactive workshop from the Shinn Group equips home builders with the strategies, systems, and Shinn methods to strengthen culture, improve operations, and position their businesses for success well beyond the current cycle.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to become the Builder of Choice™ by building trust with employees, trades, and customers.
- Why short-term cost savings often erode long-term profitability—and what to do instead.
- Practical tools to focus leadership on results.
- How to use AI and technology to free up your teams for the human work of culture, leadership, and customer connection.
- Financial and operational disciplines to control the controllables and drive consistent profitability.
Spotlight

Matt Risinger
Matt started working for one of the National Production Builders after college where he met his Texan wife in Washington DC. His 7 years with that mega builder didn’t satisfy his desire for “Craftsmanship.” He moved to Portland, OR in 2002 and it was the national mold crisis that lead him to the path of Building Science. He wanted to learn why these houses were failing and learning everything about the science behind construction has been a passion ever since.

Shinn Group
Shinn Group is a leading education firm specializing in the homebuilding industry. For nearly 50 years, they’ve helped private home builders improve operations, increase profitability, and stay ahead in a competitive market. Their team of experts provides practical guidance across all aspects of homebuilding – from management and production to sales, marketing, and finance – while also offering consulting, coaching, and resources like rebates and benchmark builder groups to help industry professionals grow and become the Builder of ChoiceTM in their marketplace.

CenterPoint Energy
The CenterPoint Energy High Efficiency HomesTM program incentivizes the construction and certification of high performance and ENERGY STAR® homes by participating homebuilders in the Houston area. These homes use less energy than one built only to the Texas residential building code, providing homeowners with a more comfortable home that operates for less money.

ICF
ICF partners with utility clients to design and manage programs that drive decarbonization, energy efficiency, and emissions reductions nationwide. Our mission is to help clients achieve ambitious goals, solve complex challenges, and create lasting impact that improves lives. As a firm whose purpose is to build a more prosperous and resilient world for all, ICF’s operating philosophy centers on taking meaningful, impactful actions for our people, our planet, and the communities around us.

Higharc
Higharc is a cloud-based platform designed to modernize the homebuilding industry by integrating design, sales, estimating, and construction processes into a single, connected system. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, Higharc aims to replace outdated software like AutoCAD with more efficient, automated tools tailored for homebuilders.

TNMP
The TNMP High-Performance Homes Program supports the construction and certification of high-performance and ENERGY STAR® certified new homes. Participating homebuilders can earn financial incentives for building energy-efficient homes that meet the current program guidelines.
